Repro Floor Mats

Here is a close-up of the repro floor mats that TRF  had made.  They were advertised as an exact replica of original mats from an original 3A.

Question:  should the entire "donut" be removed to accommodate the brake lever or only the inside "  donut hole"?

Good Day!

Actually I just installed a set of these on "Emily" our 1959 TR3-A. I removed only the center hole and
the mat seemed to go on just fine. It is a bit tight but the material does not seem to be stressed.

I'm sure removing the entire hole would ease the fitting but I was concerned about tearing into the
material without the supporting "loop".

Perhaps someone else has had a different experience?

Cheers,

Ray

yes, that's what I thought, the inner donut.

Emily and Grey Lady may know each other since they were born within a couple of weeks of each other.

Inner donut only. The loop really was there for support during operation of the brake.

Are the repro mats available now thicker than the originals as were the older ones? I actually liked the thicker mats - they seemed tougher than the originals.

Yes John, much thicker and softer.  Still have my original set as a reference.

Good Day!

I'm VERY pleased with the "proper" floor mats for our TR3-A that came from The Roadster Factory. The look great and fit perfectly.

Cheers,

Ray

Quick Note: BE CAREFUL when you tighten up the bolts at the bottom of the boot lid as it's quite easy to over tighten them and (please forgive me) BEND your boot. Be generous with the rubber padding
and this along with a slight tightening of the bolts will hold your new rack just fine.

Cheers,

Ray
