Looking for transmission cover TR3 57
Lisa: Good luck in finding a metal cover. Since these have been out of production for at least 40 years, metal ones you find are likely in very poor condition due to rust and corrosion. Unless you are concerned about strict originality, I recommend you consider one of the Poly (plastic) units being sold by the major TR suppliers for approx. $100. You will find that those being offered are actually for later cars, but they should fit. Check eBay and other on line auction sites.
Good luck,

A friend/business associate I have known for years has an early wide mouth sitting in the desert with many usable parts. We have never come to terms as to its value because to me it is missing too much to have much value and to him it is too valuable to set a price for the overall car.
He believes 50 year old wire rims are worth hundreds while I think they would cost too much to restore.
I need parts of the body and so we agreed to dismantle and sell the parts. What is a transmission cover (if it has one) worth? Car has been poorly stored in a very dry climate for years and years
I am assuming that this is what Lisa is looking for, the sheet metal cover which fits over the gearbox.

As long as the flanges are intact, this should work. If they're bad it could be a lot of welding...
john,
are the flanges where you bolt into the body? or where? I agree I would not want to pay more to work on the piece.
Looks good but I will need to repair some places anyway. How much do you think he would want?
Thanks!
