50 Years of the Triumph TR4
The Triumph TR4 was a sports car built in the United Kingdom by the Standard Triumph Motor Company and introduced in 1961. Code named "Zest" during development, the car was based on the chassis and drivetrain of the previous TR sports cars, but with a modern Michelotti styled body. 40,253 cars were built during production years. The TR4 proved very successful and continued the rugged, "hairy-chested" image that the previous TRs had enjoyed
We doing anything special to celebrate the TR4's 50th anniversary at the 2011 TRA National Meeting?
Cheers,
Darrell
Nothing special is planned. You have any suggestions?
Mark,
I don't know. How about a TR4 birthday cake at the welcome party to kick things off? Then at the auction we could have some real nice NOS early TR4 parts that, like, I could bid on and get cheap?
We could have special T-Shirts made up but who would buy? We could commision Mike Cook to write us a nice article for the event program on the introduction of the TR4 in 1961. I believe he was there. Guest speaker? I suppose a lot of little things could be done but that would be up to the organizers of course. The rallye could include tie breaker questions on the history of the TR4. If anything else comes to mind I will forward. Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers,
Darrell
Darrell:
As Mark said, we are all ears and are asking for your input. Can you contact Mike Cook for that article?

That's done Lou. Mike wants you to e-mail him direct. Now do we get our TR4 birthday cake? I like white cake with chocolate fudge icing. Would a tub of Cherry Vanila ice cream be pushing it?
Cheers,
Darrell
I could bring my recently acquired super early CT288L, and everyone could pitch in and build the car for me in one week during the event!
