TRA 2010 National Meet Information

Although some plans are still
being finalized, Buckeye Triumphs is busy working on the many details
necessary to host the 2010 TRA National Meet. The dates have been
set for Wednesday. June 16 through Sunday, June 20, so be sure to mark
your 2010 calendars and plan to attend.
Most of our driving events
will be within Holmes County, Ohio, but we will be staying at the Hilton
Garden Inn in Wooster, Ohio (which is one county north). This
is because there are no hotels in Holmes County that can accommodate
a crowd of our size. The rate for the Hilton is locked in at $109.00
per night plus the usual annoying taxes. Holmes County is the
home of many Amish families and we will get the opportunity to sample
delicious Amish cooking experience their simpler way of life.
We will have several driving
opportunities to motor through Ohio countryside to quaint Amish towns
such as Kidron, Berlin, Charm and Sugarcreek. Lehman’s Hardware
is a retail store located in Kidron, Ohio. Originally specializing
in products used by the Amish community, it has become known worldwide
as a source for non-electric appliances. The 32,000 square-foot
facility bills itself as a “Low Tech Superstore” and a “Purveyor
of Historical Technology.” It is also a popular tourist destination
for busloads of “English” (non-Amish) people. Berlin is known
for its unique gift shops featuring everything from garden crafts to
children’s toys. Charm is one of the largest Amish communities
in the world and is known for its home style restaurants, inns and the
Ole Mill Furniture Store. (They even have a school there so you
can tell your friends that you have been to Charm School.) Tourism
in Sugarcreek was the result of actual lifestyle evolution rather than
planned marketing. The strong German-Swiss heritage of Sugarcreek’s
citizens resulted in the establishment of cheese factories throughout
the area.
For those who are interested, we have made arrangements to drive “parade laps” at the Mid-Ohio Racecourse on Thursday. Most likely, we will be on the track during the lunch hour because a driving school is taking place during the weekend of TRA National.
As we have done during the last several years, the “Concours” will be held on Friday. After several phone calls, we now have approval to use the land that surrounds the hotel for the car show (as it doesn’t belong to the Hilton). Also, as usual, we will have a lively parts auction and an entertaining awards banquet.
Other plans are still in the works, but we will do our best to show everyone a great time and we hope that many of you chose to attend the big event.

Glad to see it's back at Wooster. For a while there it was rumored to be heading to Twinsburg... We stayed in the hotel in October - nice place. Great Wal-Mart too - ask Stan Seto about that one, and if he got a rubber chicken... Bruce
TRA 2010 sounds great! Looking forward to The Show! Does Mid-Ohio have tow truck service? If not is there a Lucas dealer at the track that will sell me a coil. BUT!!!.... We think we have the problem solved...bad ground???? Jack
I requested vacation for that week. Hope to see you all there. The last one in West Virginia was my first. The wife and I had lots of fun, despite the rain. For those that got first place in the Funkhana and the Gimmick Rallye, watch out we are practicing!
I'd like to make it also; with me it's always the wound. The TR2 might make it also - we'll see. It's been a few years...
I am thinking of making the run myself. I wonder if those of us from the east migh be able to plan a caravan as we make our way out to Ohio. Coordination might be a little work, but willing participants should be able to make it happen. My 20 is 30 miles west of Philly. Any interest anyone?
When will we see a Schedule of Events? People use that to decide when they will arrive and so they know how many nights to make their hotel reservations for. I don't know if I should make hotel reservations for Tuesday night so we'll be there for anything happening Wednesday morning, or if we don't need to arrive until after lunch on Wednesday.
BTW - we plan on arriving Tuesday afternoon (after visiting several wineries along the way), so if others are there Tuesday we could set up a dinner somewhere. Wednesday and Thursday (for those not going over to Mid-Ohio) we'll also be doing some touring of Holmes County - want to head to Sugercreek for sure - and we might get as far as Warther's Museum in Dover - so if you are interested in seeing what we might be doing just send me a note.
